Most of us have already returned to our – nice – everyday routine. That’s good… Especially if you had the chance to take a break (vacations is what I mean) then your batteries are supposed to be fully charged and yourself full of energy to make a dynamic come-back. However, according to a saying “He who just returned from holidays is most desperately asking for it”! I could not agree more.
For those of us who always have our suitcase ready, Aegina is a beautiful island, easily accessible, reasonable in terms of prices, ideal for weekend breaks all year round.
In Autumn, you will enjoy a different, authentic Aegina. Relaxed atmosphere, easygoing people, home-made dishes served in cozy places, music, art and interesting discussions…. This is the ideal time for sightseeing without being sun-burnt. Hiking on Aegina’s cultural trails – you can explore traditional villages (Pachia Rachi) and reach the Oros mountain’s summit (the highest in Aegina). The Temple of Aphaia, Kolona, the remnants of the ancient Temple of Zeus, Paleochora, the Greek Wildlife Hospital and so many points of interest that will amaze you. Bird-watching, cycling along the island’s mainland and coasts, the famous Fistiki (Pistachio) Festival, Aghios Nektarios and Aghios Sostis festivals, the custom of Leidinos, the Classic Cars Parade…
Of course, Aegina in Autumn is far less crowded than in summer, while a good number of local enterprises close until March when they open again. Still, for an island, Aegina offers plenty of choices in terms of hotels, restaurants, cafes, patisseries, stores and nightlife even during wintertime.
So, what if summer is over, the island that we love is always waiting for us all!
