P.S.: Before you even finish reading this article, book your ferry tickets now, because you might not find seats for one of the upcoming weekends!

The new Aegina pistachio harvest is just around the corner, giving us plenty of reasons to celebrate, just like we’ve done every year since 2008!

The highlight is the agricultural and commercial exhibition at the Pistachio Festival, which this year runs from September 12 to 15. Until then, a series of celebratory and cultural events will take place across the island, such as screenings of the legendary ERT series “The Treasure of Vagias” at the courtyard of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Aegina on 09/09 and 10/09, a lively festival with Nikos Fakaros on 10/09 at Souvala harbor at 21:30, and of course, concerts with Eleni Tsaligopoulou on Friday 13.09 at 22:00 and Giorgos Theofanous on Saturday 14/09 at 21:30 at Aegina’s main harbor.

Throughout the Fistiki Fest and its celebrations, we’re going for handmade gyros at Willy in Souvala, enjoying the sea view, or heading to the brand new Hasapiko in Aegina town, just a stone’s throw from the beach! Naturally, we’ll stop by the legendary Aiakeion for eight different flavors of pistachio ice cream and their quadruple-award-winning sugar-free pistachio cream.

While you’re nearby, make sure to swing by the super cute Is Mini Beauty & Style for some shopping, including the Ammos collection by Pandora, a Greek brand. Here, you’ll find their unique charms, featuring—you guessed it—pistachios!

For our stay, we’re choosing the newly renovated Apollo Resort in the lush area of Agia Marina. With direct access to the sea, the resort boasts 240 beds in elegantly designed rooms with unobstructed views of the Saronic Gulf.

We want to experience the unique Dionysian tradition of the Lidinos festival, which is revived annually in the square of Kypseli village on September 14, during the Feast of the Cross.

The festival marks the end of summer and the harvest season, transitioning into fall and winter. The village women create a male effigy stuffed with straw, symbolizing the harvest season, and celebrate with music and dancing!

And since we’re already in Kypseli, we can’t miss a visit to The Hive, the unique concept store in the village square that made its debut this spring. It offers a high-quality collection of gifts, school supplies, clothing, as well as wellness and art products.

With the weather still warm, the sea inviting, and the August winds behind us, we’re squeezing in a few more swims with fewer crowds, holding onto that summer feeling just a little longer!

We’re opting for a swim or lounging on sunbeds from morning till night at the stunning boho Fyki in Aeginitissa (stay tuned for standout events on Fridays and Saturdays that gather all the cool crowd of the island), and of course, the very popular Bocampo Beach Bar in Marathonas B’, a favorite with the younger crowd, offering shallow waters, food, and even hookah!

It’s also the perfect opportunity to savor a few more meals by the sea… with the sun’s rays caressing us or the colors of the sunset enchanting us!

We’ll try the brand-new and hot Cebu Beach Restaurant in Marathonas for a delicious brunch in the morning, sunset cocktails in the evening, and in between, unique dishes bursting with flavor, creativity, and imagination, like tarama mousse with cuttlefish ink chips and ceviche with daily catch, avocado, strawberry, and coriander oil.
