It is one of the most important monuments of the newest cultural heritage of Aegina. Harmonically integrated into the natural landscape, the house of Rodakis in Aegina is located in Mesagros village and is classified as a historical monument and a work of art, as well as an excellent example of traditional local architecture with particularly noteworthy decorative elements.

Its new owner, the Greek architect Dionysis Sotovikis, completely renovated it with absolute respect and the result is a masterpiece of architecture, folk tradition, and of course the wisdom of its creator.

The house of Rodakis in Aegina began to be built in 1884 and was completed in 1897. It is a legendary house that oversees the entire village of Mesagros and Paliachora.

Alexandros Rodakis was a simple peasant and worker, who was born in 1854, had 8 children and lived his life in Mesagros, Aegina. The German archaeologist A. Furtwangler was the first to discover the importance of the house, during excavations of the German Archaeological School at the Temple of Aphaia. In Greece, it was studied by the architect Dimitris Pikionis.
