Portes
Portes
If you are looking for a beach with few people then a safe choice is the fishing village called Portes!
To get there, you follow the road that passes through the hinterland of Aegina towards Pachia Rachi unless you are in Agia Marina in which case you take the coastal road southbound. It takes a little bit of driving, but when you get to Portes you can easily forget all about cars, mobile phones and anything else that has to do with civilization.
Lay your beach-towel on one of the two small beaches, dive with your mask to collect shells, grab a fishing rod and lose yourself, like a child, in nature’s embrace.
The scenery is complemented by a few cottages with beautiful courtyards dotted around the shore. From Portes, when the weather is clear, you can see the whole southern part of Attica, from Glyfada to Sounio.
Must go
Go to the taverns of the village for food. They more than deserve your visit!
