Aegina equals with endless summer memories, friends, sunsets, and lots and lots of inspiration. The young jewelry designers, Chrysanthi and Maro Makri share all the things that connect them with the island we love and awaken that sweet nostalgia of our own summers in Aegina… Enjoy their interview and get inspiration from the colours and aura of our island!
We are Chrysanthi and Maro Makri and we are jewelry designers. For the past six years, we have been running our own business of two jewelry brands. We visit Aegina regularly for holidays and we are deeply connected to the island. We have designed many of our collections in Aegina, as it is a source of inspiration. In fact, the cmmakris series is exclusively designed by us drawing inspiration from the ancient Greek culture and the Greek elements. It is worth noting that our last photo shooting took place in the ancient olive groves of Aegina, a place we love so much!
Why Aegina
We visit Aegina from a very young age, since we have our holiday home on the island! Since our childhood, we spent most of our summer holidays in Aegina with our family and friends. We have the sweetest memories, the most beautiful summer nights and the most stunning sunsets.
What connects us to Aegina…
Many memories, beautiful landscapes, favorite friends, delicious food, endless hours at the beach and of course walks in our favorite olive groves, located above our house. We are deeply connected to this place. The whole island is a place of inspiration, relaxation and creation for us.
When we arrive to Aegina…
In a magical way, when the boat arrives at the port, the stress of the city disappears and colorful emotions take place. We get impatient to catch up with everything we want to do on our favorite island once again. Then all we feel is relaxation… As if the whole island is a warm embrace for us!
Our favorite spots on the island
One of our favorite places is of course the ancient olive grove and all the hiking paths, the old settlement “Pacheia Rachi”, dusk in the temple of Aphaia, and a night with the refreshing breeze of Anitsaio for dinner.
What we love to do in Aegina
The daily program includes several hours at the beach, in small quiet coves enjoying the beauties of the island. Delicious lunch at our grandmother’s, coffee in Perdika, or a walk around the island, and our day ends with a glimpse of the most beautiful sunset in Greece that is on our island!
