Govita: Authentic flavors and love for Aegina
Giovita, owner of the eponymous restaurant located in the heart of beautiful Aegina, is a source of inspiration for the local community! In Aegina, where history meets the modern way of life, Giovita represents the spiritual and gustatory richness that is the hallmark of our island.
Giovita was born and raised in Perdika. Her parents, being both cooks, passed on to her the talent and germ of cooking. From an early age, she helped her mother in the kitchens where she worked and generally over the years, she gained valuable experience in service as well as in various positions in hotels. When the time came for her to create something of her own, everything came together in such a way, and in 2016, the restaurant Giovita was born!
With her personal speech, she highlights the beauty of our island and the amazing multicultural heritage it hides!
Why Aegina..
Aegina carries great historical value. Geographically, it is also a focal point in the Mediterranean and harmoniously combines greenery, mountains and the sea. I have traveled a lot but I could never find a place like Aegina. There was a thought of leaving at some point, but when my kids came I decided to stay. I love Greece and my country and I feel that I have to stay and contribute to my place. It is my clear choice to stay forever!
Why should anyone visit Aegina..
Because there are remarkable archaeological sites, which are worth seeing up close, it combines mountain and valley, it has incredible flavors and in general I think it is a budget destination… and a very quick trip especially from Athens!
Favorite places in Aegina..
Perdika of course, the beautiful protected part of the Monastery, the Temple of Aphaia and the Mount where you can see all of Aegina from above. There are so many beautiful places basically and the fact that the island is not densely populated, it kind of leaves you with a feeling of wild natural beauty!
How do I feel when I leave Aegina..
It makes me just want to go back.. you will always go back to where you grew up because that makes you remember who you really are.. your roots!
Aegina in one word..
Έγινα (its a word play between Αίγινα and Έγινα which translates to feeling very nice)

I met you 5 years ago and all I have to say is that above all you are wonderful people and professionals, with real love for my country! Really a very pleasant surprise for Aegina, everything is done with a lot of love and passion and I am especially happy that you exist and I wish you to do this for a very long time to come!
Giovita is yet another example of how people can create something truly extraordinary when they combine their passion, with love for local tradition and for their homeland! Thank you Jovita!
