People of Aegina #26 – Nikos and Lefteris Spyridakis
We love everything about Aegina and we owe everything we are to it.
A few words about Nikos and Lefteris..
On our beautiful island we can only meet beautiful people and this time we met two people who have incorporated their love for the island into their work. Nikos and Lefteris Spyridakis, the creators of Spiri Coffee & Beverages, are an excellent example of hardworking people who love Aigna and create a business from scratch that reflects exactly this love and passion.
The beginning of their journey in Aegina was simple, but rich in emotions. They came to the island when they were still children, 11 and 6 years old respectively, from Poros, where their mother comes from. The move to Aegina came because of the transfer of their father, who was an officer.
As they grew up in Aegina, they met many remarkable people and began to feel how lucky they are to belong to this community. Lefteris had something to do with coffee from a young age, while Nikos had a passion for football. However, when they decided to return permanently to the island, they decided to fully focus on the coffee area. They started with small and steady steps from the coffee trade and slowly expanded, discovering new products.
Four years ago, they decided to take full control of their coffee production process as well. After a lot of training in the art of coffee roasting, they managed to create a high quality product that established them in the local, and not only, market as the leading coffee producers.
“All businesses in Aegina support us, regardless of commercial cooperation, and we are grateful for that,” Nikos tells us.
Recently, they announced that they will participate in the Coffee Festival in Gazi, one of the biggest coffee gatherings in Greece. Their goal is to expand beyond the borders of Aegina and bring their coffee to new destinations throughout Greece. A main characteristic of the Spyridakis brothers’ mentality is that they do not seek quick success, but slow and steady steps with the aim of developing their brand organically, with the very quality of their coffee as a foundation.
What we love in Aegina..
Everything! Its smells, landscapes, people. We are incredibly attached to our island. It is also in a very strategic spot, next to Athens, where this is extremely convenient!

Favorite places in Aegina..
We really like the bay at the Bouza lighthouse, Sotos at Agia Marina, Afokleisti bay after Agia Marina, Mount and Ancient Elaionas.
Favorite habits..
Bathing at the Bouza Lighthouse to unwind, but also for the perfect sunset and a run from Akrogiali, the cinema to Agios Vasilios!
We would recommend to someone..
Come for one day and explore the center of Aegina! He will find many buildings from Kapodistrias that he could visit. If he stays for a few days, he will definitely go to the islet of Moni, the perfect fishing village of Perdika which has very nice shops, Agia Marina with its natural beauty, the Temple of Aphaia our own little Acropolis and he will definitely pay a visit to St. Nectary. In general, it has countless options! Don’t come only in the summer, Nikos tells us, but also in the Autumn and Spring (then it has incredible smells), where it is more relaxed and less crowded and that way you will see Aegina even better!
