Kylindras

Once one of the largest villages of the island

Kylindras (or Tsoulindras)

On the way from Agia Marina to Portes you will find a sign that will lead you to the small village of Kylindras, to the northeast of Anitseo. It seems that it was once one of the largest villages of Aegina, while judging from the houses that have been preserved, its inhabitants must have been quite affluent people.

Today there are several renovated but also newly-built houses in the area which is justifiable since the village offers tranquillity, beautiful nature and wonderful views to the bay of the coastal village of Portes.

Kylindras’ square is an old threshing floor, across from which you will see a traditional cistern, two more signs of the life of this village over the years.

Bonus Tip

There is a path from Anitseo to Kylindras, then to Portes and back to Anitseo which you can follow. A circular trail of moderate difficulty, which combines ideally a walk in nature with getting acquainted with some of the most beautiful Aeginean villages.
