Skotini or Lefki or Mavri

Aegina's longest stream

Skotini Aegina (or Mavri and nowadays Lefki)

Skotini, which is the longest stream of Aegina, sources out from Omvrodechtis, which is just above the Chrysoleontissa monastery and flows to the sea, north of the Palaiopyrgos cape.

In the summer, Skotini carries little water, but in winter-time it swells up and washes away everything in its path. In recent years, studies have been carried out to build dams aiming to better exploit the power of water.

Bonus Tip

Οne of the hiking trails of Aegina end at Skoteini. It is said to have been carved in ancient times. A unique experience!
