Maridaki Aegina… The oldest traditional restaurant in Aegina with a history dating back to 1948, visited by Nikos Kazantzakis, Aliki Vougiouklaki and Alain Delon!
In one of the most central points on the seafront of Aegina Town, Maridaki is a traditional restaurant synonymous with the history of restaurants on the island and has been serving flavors that remain forever etched in the mind since 1948. In 2022, Maridaki passed into the hands of the well-known businessman of the island, Kyriakos Klonos and opened its doors for the new season, renovated and fresher than ever, while still serving… authentic Aegina flavors!
Taking a stroll on the beach of Aegina, you will distinguish Maridaki from afar for its beauty and elegance. Dressed in white and blue, beautifully lit and with meticulous decoration that exudes island air, the traditional restaurant invites you to its white tables outside or in its nice interiors, with the beautiful rotundas for large groups and the huge handmade, specially ordered, dominating tile mural. On the tables of Maridaki, you will find the same mini mosaic.
Here you will taste delicious, big fishes from the fishermen of Aegina, traditional dishes with a modern touch as well as delicious stews, for which Maridaki is famous. Some of the special dishes that we have tried and that have delighted us are the shrimp carbonara, the sautéed scallops, the octopus carpaccio, the mullet tartare, the salmon fillet with glaze, miso and mash puree, the Australian ribeye and their wonderful “Maridaki” salad ( with sauteed shrimp, avocado, cherry tomatoes, pesto, pickled cucumber, capers, green oil). From their cooked dishes, we strongly recommend the octopus with macaroni, but you should also advice the chef on what he recommends from the cooked dishes of the day!
Grab a table in the historic Maridaki and you will remember us… It is no coincidence that the history of the tavern has a lot of stories to be told. For the record, the legendary Greek movie “Holidays in Aegina” with Aliki Vougiouklaki was recorded here, Kazantzakis used to eat at its tables every day, while once Allen Delon was here and the girls were chasing him!
Maridaki also delivers at your door in the city of Aegina from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Sundays are excluded.
