In Kypseli of Aegina, Panagiotis Marinis has managed to create something unique with his active and talented hands. An artistic farm garden, where the stone of Aegina is “tamed” and comes to life through separate stone heads, which are exposed against a background of flower beds, trees and cacti.

The impressive and inspiring Marini Artistic Garden incorporates the artist’s art and love for the island of Aegina in every stone creation. Self-taught as a sculptor, with many years of business activity in the glass and mosque industry, Panagiotis Marinis has created a unique art garden, an outdoor sculpture gallery, which reflects all his love for Aegina and his creativity.

The artist converses with the Aeginetan stone that he holds in his hands, whether it is from the ground or from the sea, and gives it breath, transforming it into “living flesh”, as characteristically analyzed by the art critic Irida Kritikou on the occasion of the exhibition “Tools Petras” by Panagiotis Marinis in Larissa, which was inaugurated in July at the city’s Timeless Museum. The disembodied heads of the artist look like “souls” that managed to free themselves from the stone, like characters with substance that have withstood time and have a lot to tell us.

From the soft sandstone of Mesagros, to the black stone found in the rest of Aegina, no stone resists the will of the artist, who, tireless and eternal and always with modesty and respect for his raw material, continues to create with the same passion and commitment. Moreover, his hands have never stopped moving charmingly and liberatingly over the stone he works on.

The farm garden is an ode to nature and art. Here the visitor has the opportunity to discover the unique carved creations of the artist, who always carries a stone during his walks on the island. The art of the talented artist, but at the same time a modest and sweet person, is reflected in every detail of the works, while the farm garden functions as an open-air museum, where the visitor can listen to the stories that the stone has to tell.

A special part of the world created by the artist Panagiotis Marinis is also the small improvised museum in the same space. There he collects various objects, which bear witness to the history and life of the people on the island.

The Marini Artistic Garden receives visits from the schools of the island and beyond, it holds exhibitions in collaboration with the Municipality, while in the summers it organizes sculpture workshops, mainly for young aspiring artists.
